Banking Jacket - Men's M/L
Oh my goodness. So this jacket is made from about four bankers bags from the 40s to the early 80s. I drove out to rural Georgia to visit some antique shops and came across these bags. I didn’t know if it was going to be a good idea to go ahead and buy all four so I only bought one. Once I came home I took the bag apart. it was way too small to do anything with and I immediately regretted not buying the other three. So two days later I drove back down to the antique shop and luckily was able to pick up the other three bags. While these bags are very narrow I ripped all of the seams and piece them together to make a large textile using all bags. WHEW.
I then realized I ran out of the canvas for the sleeves and had to make a gametime decision and find canvas cotton twill with a navy ticking stripe for the sleeves. I think it looks nice and it’s exactly what I had envisioned.
The facing is an off-white canvas with red ticking stripe. The buttons are large mismatched wooden buttons from the 50s. The waist pocket is a vendors apron or tool apron- and I left the ties to tie around or leave hanging. Your choice.
Please note that all textiles are 50 to 75 years old and may contain irregularities and/or areas of irregular color. All stains and fabric imperfections have been treated by us to the best of our ability.
Model pictured is 6’1” and typically wears a size medium.
1/2 Chest: 23”
Front Body Length from High Point Shoulder: 29 1/2”
Shoulder seam: 7”
Sleeve Length: 23 1/2”
