Michigan Mennonite Mother Trucker
Made from a 1960s cotton quilt top that was thankfully backed with lightweight cotton. The backing was not stitched down or quilted, so cutting and sewing each piece was particularly tricky. Everything was pieced and hand stitched by Mennonites (or Amish- I may have gotten some skewed info from the seller).
If you look at the detail, it pains me to think about how long this may have taken. There is no batting inside, so it’s not a true “quilt”. More of a coverlet.
The jacket itself is a trucker style, lengthened. It's lightweight and does not button all the way down centerfront. Sleeve cuffs have a cufflink construction, which I really wanted to do to play with formal vs. casual ideals.
Model is 6’2” and typically wears a Medium.
Please note that all textiles used are 50 to 125+ years old and may contain irregularities and/or areas of irregular color. All stains and fabric imperfections have been treated by us to the best of our ability and are common with vintage and antique textiles.
