arts and crafts applique shirt.//joe jonas
navy cross weave, semi-sheer micro check cotton from India.
free style hand drawn doodles inspired by the arts and crafts movement turned into appliqué on off-white cotton quilting fabric.
I just kind of dooodled and liked it then placed it…then cut it and then sewed it.
exploring applique has been an incredibly fun avenue and means create my own textile that I wish I could find out there, but can’t. With the dwindling pool of vintage textiles available, it’s been a way to translate my little sketches and doodles into a textile-then cutting it up to make a garment (which is how this all started; I was just using other people’s work from decades back.)
It is rewarding and a little heartbreaking to create these textiles then chop them. But the end product makes up for it all frfr.
Convertible collar
Split side seams at hem
Mother of pearl buttons
Boxy, camp shirt silhouette
Please note that all textiles used are 50 to 125+ years old and may contain irregularities and/or areas of irregular color. All stains and fabric imperfections have been treated by us to the best of our ability and are common with vintage and antique textiles.
