1887 German Duvet shirt - M/L
A 1887 cotton duvet from Germany. This is the softest cotton I have ever felt maybe in my life-probably due to the years of use and care. When I purchased it, I was given a tad bit of history. All lace insets are hand stitched. The duvet came perfectly intact as a functioning duvet however, the underside was not usable and easily was vulnerable to tearing. (Probably the area where ones legs go?). It has been reverse appliqué mended in an area that creates layers of squares, which I used for the wearer’s front left body. This textile is extremely delicate at 134 years old and truly has a history. No biking or hiking in this shirt, please. This is a sleeper piece IMO. The simplicity really shows everything-hides nothing.
Softly tailored, no interfacing. Split side seams and clean finished interior.
